adesso and DOKOM21 are providing free Internet access for the refugee centre and welcome all those seeking shelter

More than 600 refugees will soon receive shelter at two airdomes in Stadtkrone Ost, Dortmund, which is located close to DOKOM21 and adesso. “The people are safe now, but many of them worry about their family and friends in Syria or Iraq. Together with adesso AG, we will provide free WLAN so that the new arrivals housed in the shelter may contact their loved ones at home at any time,” explains Jörg Figura, managing director of DOKOM21. For this purpose, the regional telecommunications service provider is installing two hotspots to guarantee quick and stable Internet access. DOKOM21 is financing the connection and the investment required to install the WLAN network. According to the city building authorities, the construction works are proceeding according to schedule and the first refugees should be able to move in by mid-December.

ARITHNEA to take over e-business activities from adesso

adesso’s content management and e-commerce activities will be pooled at digital business specialist ARITHNEA from 1 January 2016. As part of this move, the ARITHNEA team will be joined by some 50 adesso staff. At the same time, the IT service provider adesso AG is increasing its shareholding in ARITHNEA from 51 per cent to 100 per cent. With the restructuring effort, adesso and ARITHNEA are pursuing the aim of systematically advancing the defined growth and investment strategy.

adesso welcomes visit from Japan: Digital transformation between research and practice

Digital transformation is not simply a challenge for individual businesses, it is also an issue for the entire economic region of North Rhine-Westphalia. On behalf of the state government, NRW.INVEST is currently organising exchange programmes for Japanese companies, focusing on issues such as industry 4.0 and the digitalisation of the economy. As part of this initiative, Professor Yoshio Tanaka from the Tokyo University of Science met with Professor Dr Volker Gruhn, University of Duisburg-Essen and Supervisory Board Chairman of adesso AG, and Andreas Prenneis, member of the Executive Board at adesso AG, in Dortmund on Tuesday. The experts had the opportunity to share their expertise on the digital transformation at the gateway between university-based research and corporate practice.
