adesso AG Expands Activities in Public Authorities Sector by Winning a Large-scale Project

Dortmund, 07 July 2010 – adesso AG announces its first large-scale project in the sector of German public authorities. In the context of a German Federal Bureau of Statistics’ tendering, adesso is taking on the development of certain IT components of the IT concept “Census 2011”, as part of next year’s EU-wide population census. The framework agreement has initially been concluded for two years and ensures the purchase of at least 1,300 person-days.

With the registry supported population census, a new method will be introduced where mainly existing administrative registries will be used to collect the data. The realisation and implementation of the new method as well as the data consolidation that comes with it require comprehensive and reliable IT support. adesso won the tender for a subproject for developing the address and building registry as well as designing the registration and purchase data registry. As its main task adesso will take on the implementation and maintenance of the software components involved in the subproject.

The results of the 2011 census will be closely followed by economic and policy decision-makers. Based on its experience in complex projects and its expertise in development, adesso sees the chance to feature its skills in order to settle further collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Statistics and the other companies involved.

The public authorities sector is being expanded into one of adesso’s core industries.
